Happy 35th Birthday to us! Earlier this week, Virginia Lottery employees gathered to celebrate three and a half decades of service to the Commonwealth and our ongoing mission of raising funds for K-12 public schools. (A mission that's raised $12 BILLION for K-12 public schools since 1999! ? )

"It was 35 years ago this week – September 20, 1988, to be exact – the Virginia Lottery sold its very first ticket: the $1.00 Match 3 ticket with a $5,000 top prize. Since then, we have expanded upon the fun and entertainment we provide for adult Virginians by offering everything thing from $1.00 to $50.00 Scratchers, a variety of daily draw games, multi-state games and eInstants. We also have the huge responsibility of regulating sports betting and casinos.
